LX125 starting issues after winter

My bike has been dormant in the garage over winter, with battery on slow charge. Have fitted a new spark plug and even with fully charged battery the engine won't start. Engine ticks over but doesn't kick in. Any advice as desperate to get back on bike with weather changing for the better.
