Carb....or something more serious?

Hi,

I've got an '07 PX125. It's also the 1st "electric start" model I've had.

Recently, I've noticed on a few occassions that when starting, there has been an audible "clunk" as if the piston is ramming against a solid mass. Switching to kick start, it feels like it has suddenly got the ridiculously high compression of a very old motorbike. Couple of turns later, and it eases up, and there is no loss of power/acceleration once out on the road.

However, yesterday, after a "clunk" (and hey, I'm no engineer but "clunks" can never be good) as the motor freed itself, a subtantial amount of petrol flowed out of the exhaust on each turn until she eventually fired up.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Hope someone can help.

Cheers,

Haddie

hello pal,,the only thing i can suggest is to ask if u have the correct oil ,,the use of the wrong viscosity of oil caused the exact same problem you are desrcibing here,,i must stress that the engine i am talking about was a 4 stroke lawnmower.. the oil was semi seizing the piston thus giving an extreme amount of compression and a clunking noise.
I hope this is of some help..i know its not a scoot engine i,m talking about but it still has the same symptoms...Dean.
